Sexual Assault suspect being held with no bond

This morning sexual assault suspect Jonathon Brown was in first appearance. Brown is being held with no bond. He is accused of sexually assaulting a woman in broad daylight.

"For somebody to be attacked out in the open, people walking by all the time, something's definitely wrong there," said an eye doctor who works in that plaza, Clyde Chapman.

According to Delray Beach Police, 41-year old Jonathan Brown had followed a 69-year old woman into that breezeway at the Delray Crossing Plaza along Linton Boulevard. Police say Brown grabbed the victim from behind, threw her to the ground and started sexually assaulting her between two columns there. This all happened at around 10:00 in the morning...

Teens arrested on sexual assault charges

A 16-year-old male and a 15-year-old male were arrested Sunday on sexual assault charges involving an intoxicated 14-year-old female.

According to Sgt. Dave Thompson, with the Sonoma County Sheriff's Department Domestic Violence and sexual Assault Unit, at about 2:23 a.m. Sunday, deputies from the Sonoma Valley sheriff's substation stopped a vehicle at Verano Avenue and Riverside Drive for suspected drunk driving. Three juvenile males, all Agua Caliente residents ranging in age from 12 to 16, and a juvenile female, age 14, also a Sonoma Valley resident, were in the vehicle.

The female told deputies that she had been sexually assaulted by at least one of the males in the car. The female was transported to Sonoma Valley Hospital where she was treated for heavy alcohol intoxication and later released. Thompson said the juveniles had been drinking wine at El Verano Elementary School on Riverside Drive from about 12:30 to about 2:25 a.m...

Dear Reader,

PAS has been denounced by the medical and psychological communities. It is not medicine, or psychology, but rather a legal manipulation utilized by those who want to refute claims of abuse.

Please click on my tag, "parental alienation fraud" for a plethora of information. Any legal professional engaging in this psychobabble is committing an ethical violation and as such is subject to discipline. If you are intend to engage in this racketeering, don't worry, we will expose you, too.

Some DO Understand the Ramifications of Junk Science

See here. Excerpt:
The most disturbing thing about it is that the judge ruled that the mother essentially brainwashed her daughters against her father. I think that kind of ruling is a slippery slope, as it could become precedent to remove children based on other kinds of "brainwashing" or "unrelenting campaigns" to sway your own children toward your own beliefs, even political ones.
This is exactly what I keep saying but this writer elaborates further.

Thank you.

Belize Survivor, part 23

Living Love was painted on the side of the bus, along with a yin-yang, an OM sign, and other spiritual symbols, all on the backdrop of a tastefully multicolored sunrise. It was parked across the street from Alexis’ garage apartment. Returning from her Santa Cruz adventure, she eyed it casually as she opened the door to go inside. After a leisurely shower, she thought about Bonny Doon again, and wondered for the hundredth time what Max might be doing.

Two hours later, the bus was still there. At last Alexis’ curiosity got the best of her and she knocked on the door. A young long-hair in a tie-dyed T-shirt answered.

"Come in, come in," said a disembodied voice, not from the young man, but from the back of the bus. "Welcome to my home." The old bearded gentleman came rolling forward in a powered wheelchair and smiled at her.

"Hi,” she introduced herself. “My name's Alexis DuBois. I live across the street in that little garage.” She gestured. “I couldn't help noticing your vehicle."

"Hello, Alexis. I’m Ken Keyes, and this is the Living Love bus, my traveling ashram,” he welcomed her graciously. “My followers and I are looking to find a home here in Berkeley, to establish a permanent base."

"Your…followers?" She noticed that there were three others in the bus with Ken besides the young man who let her in. "Are you a guru?"

"Perhaps in India,” he laughed kindly, “but here in America, I simply call myself a spiritual teacher. We follow the positive precepts of many great religions of the world: Hinduism, Christianity, and Buddhism – and, although we have no direct affiliation with any of them, Living Love is officially a church and is registered as such."

"Where do you come from?"

"Originally, from Miami. Come in, sit down or let me give you a tour. Would you like some fresh juice or some herb tea? I was the owner and founder of Keyes Real Estate, a large company in southeastern Florida.” Alexis studied the man; she’d heard of Keyes Real Estate. He was perhaps sixty years old with thin mousy-brown hair and wire-rim glasses. Ken was a quadriplegic, his body atrophied from decades of physical inactivity. He had only enough muscular control to hold up his head unaided and use one of his claw-like hands to move the simple toggle switch on the electric wheelchair.

The inside of the converted Greyhound combined spiritual inspiration with high-tech efficiency, allowing Ken maximum freedom and mobility. Besides the front room, there was a small but complete kitchen, extensive shelving for the stereo, amplifier, speakers, reference materials, tapes, and a substantial library of books. Toward the back was a complete bathroom with a toilet, sink, and a small sit-down shower. The well-rounded rear of the bus was Ken's bedroom which he referred to as the "OM Dome." Ornate with Indian prints and a heated waterbed, it afforded his gaunt body as much comfort as possible.

Alexis stayed for several hours. Ken was a fascinating man with an agile mind. Stricken with polio at age twenty-seven, the disease had changed his physical life forever. Yet, mentally, he refused to be victimized. Not only had he survived the debilitating psychological effects of the disease, but had become a highly successful businessman in spite of them. Eventually, Ken had escaped corporate life and had chosen to pursue spiritual enlightenment. His family thought he was losing his mind when he announced the purchase of an old bus and travel plans to set up his own religious order in California. Intelligent and forthright, unlike many of the other spiritual leaders of the day, he was not an extremist. His message was simple: live to the fullest, live in the here-and-now moment, and love others unconditionally.

Three days later, Max phoned Alexis. She had just come back from having coffee with Mark at the Café Mediterraneum in Berkeley, where she’d told him about Max. She’d been giving the whole situation some serious thought; three days had felt like three months.

"Max! What a wonderful surprise. I’m so happy to hear from you."

"I've been missing you so much.” Eighty miles away, Max stood in the kitchen of the Bonny Boon farmhouse. “I can't stop thinking about you."

"Me too,” she admitted, heaving a sigh and sitting down quickly. “Do you still want to be with me?"

"Yes, with all my heart," he said, softly.

"Then come to Berkeley. Come as soon as possible."

"I'll pack my stuff and be there tomorrow. What about a place to stay?"

"For now, there's my little garage apartment. But I met a spiritual teacher who just arrived in California. They have plenty of space in their big converted Greyhound, and he and his followers sure could use some help finding a location for his new ashram. How about you meet me at Sather Gate in front of the University at noon?"

Denouncing Parental Alienation

From Battered Moms Lose Children to Abusers:

There needs to be a denouncement by Congress of these pro-pedophilia theories of parental alienation developed by Richard Gardner. Previously, the APA had published research called the Rind Study that Congress filed a public resolution denouncing for its pro-pedophilia ideology. The same needs to happen with this pseudo-scientific theory of parental alienation. There has been admission by these so-called experts that Gardner’s theory has been ruled out, and repeated discrediting of his ideas. Yet pushers of this philosophy still go into courtrooms and testify against women and children who have been victimized by domestic abuse.

The results of a mother being accused of being an “alienator” are to give visitation and/or custody to the abuser. The mother and child suffer for years while the child is under 18. Some children who are removed from their protective parent then become so bonded and enmeshed with the abuser that they don’t ever want to see the mother. But yet when fathers force children to recant abuse (isn’t this witness tampering?…and coaching?…), badmouth the mom continuously, make false accusations of child abuse against the mother, and file endless frivolous motions in court, somehow these same so-called parental alienation experts do nothing and don’t seem to see how this behavior by the father is nothing but a big setup. The abusive fathers who claim alienation have no other goal than to continue the abuse through the court system by terrorizing the mother and taking her children away. Shared parenting certainly is not a goal, unless they want to continue to make the mother be under their control. Also, shared parenting is NEVER appropriate when there has been domestic abuse, the abuser will just continue the abuse anyway possible, just changing how they do it becoming sneakier. These malevolent abusers are the ones claiming parental alienation in these family court cases that go on until children turn 18. Also, in this scenario that I just described, it is a father with more finances than the mother that inflicts this “legal abuse” on the mother and child(ren).

The pushers of parental alienation theories now try to recruit women and children to their side to legitimize the theory. These people don’t seem to realize that this is a pro-pedophilia theory used to justify a continuing relationship with an abuser. The unsuspecting supporters have different ideas of the theory. Since parental alienation is not scientific and more of a philosophical idea, it is being interpreted in all manners and sorts. This theory is supported by people who are being deprived of relationships for less than valid reasons. Because of so very many things being called alienation or being attributed to alienation, any thing a child does that a non-custodial parent deems unacceptable can be called alienation, and any demand by a non-custodial parent that is not met by the custodial parent can also be called alienation. It’s ridiculous! A custodial parent can lose custody and/or have to defend endless baseless accusations of alienation just for having their child stay with them. Look at Alec Baldwin who has made Kim Basinger’s life a living hell. He is obviously a highly controlling, extremely demanding guy who will never be satisfied with the amount of time he has with his child. Because of his problems, he mistreats both his ex-wife and his child with his ongoing mother bashing and blaming. And his voicemail to his daughter was just typifying what it must be like to deal with this guy. I feel very sorry for Kim and Ireland. I am sure it will be a big relief when she is over 18.

And to you people who claim to be alienated, in other words kept from your child WITHOUT a valid reason, please realize that this is a different concept than the legal defense tactic used by abusers, but it is being called the same thing to help legitimize the concept. What about the moms who have their children taken away from them because a so-called “expert” testifies against them? Then the child is taken prisoner, legally kidnapped, and has no choice but to accommodate the demands of the abuser. They will often defend and justify the abusers actions after being forced to be with them. It’s a form of traumatic bonding, some call it Stockholm Syndrome. I personally think the overuse and misuse of psych labels and improbable theories is what is allowing these visitation/custody scandal family court cases to occur. Without unethical psychologists to do this parental alienation accusing in the same way that women were accused of witchcraft, these nightmare scenarios would go on a lot less often. To be accused of “covert” alienation, even someone complying with every order in every way can be accused of alienation and repeatedly be subjected to forced therapies and evaluations that are just intentional efforts to abuse and harass the mother and child, and to also inflict financial harm by forcing time off work and payment for legal fees and ridiculous psychological treatments forced under duress. These PAS or PA accusing psychologists will take any behavior of the child’s and blame it on the mother. It needs to be exposed for the fraud that it is.

What needs to happen is for the word and accusation of alienation to be disallowed. I believe this does happen in some cases, and then these unethical psychologist just make up different names for the same concept. The whole parental alienation concept when it is used in court against battered moms and abused kids is to suggest that the mom and the children are lying. It is a terrible thing when women and children experience abuse only to be re-victimized by unethical psychologists. The children who are re-victimized in this manner will grow up never trusting, because of what they are being put through.

PAS Professionals

There is a Parental Alienation Syndrome (PAS) symposium coming up in Canada. Please read about it. PAS is like, hot shit right now because it is a "diagnosis" that can fit any mold/range of "symptoms."

There is an ever-expanding list of "professionals," mainly from the field of psychology, that purport themselves to be experts on this "disease."

In short, it basically goes like this:
  • Mom and Dad are separated/divorced/never married
  • Mom has always been primary caretaker and continues as such during separation
  • Mom finds evidence of sexual abuse of the children, or mom and children may have been victims of domestic violence
  • Dad suddenly wants to exercise his "rights" to the children, more "rights" than he ever had at any other time
  • Mom does not allow this, reports abuse to authorities
  • Abuse is founded, or unsubstantiated, nevertheless irrelevant
  • Mom either limits contact with father, or denies contact increasingly in attempts to keep herself and the children safe
  • Mom is accused of being a parental alienator by a team of PAS Professionals/Court Whores
  • Father wins custody
Okay, now that I've knocked that out of the way, what I want to know is, how many of these PAS Professionals, are educated in sexual abuse, child sexual abuse, domestic violence/intimate partner violence, child psychology, rape trauma, etc?

Why? Because it is obvious that they are one in the same. PAS has arisen as a defeat for accusations of abuse. Period. I mean, think about it. If you are accused of a crime (and you did it) but you want to profess your innocence of said crime, what would be your best tactic?:
  1. To say that the other person is lying
  2. To say that the other person is actually the perpetrator and you are the victim
This shifts the focus (thinking error) from you (the real perp) to the other (the real victim).

I mean, shit, this is perfect.

How do these PAS professionals distinguish between real and false accusations of abuse if they are not DUALLY educated in the discipline of abuse and perhaps, child psychology? How can they KNOW?

They can't--because in order to be a PAS Professional, you must be under the assumption that the abuse is FALSE, from the beginning.

Do you want your child going to a counselor/therapist who assumes that your child is lying about the abuse? Then you'd better read the list on the website to which I first linked...

In the words of Tana Dineen:
When I use the term "psychologist," I often use it with a small "p" referring to all of these people who sell expert opinions, market their workshops about parenting or family relations, diagnose/label people as suffering from psychological injuries, offer parental support and do counseling and psychotherapy. When I use the term, "The Psychology Industry," it's the business, the packaging, promotion and sale of these services that I'm talking about.

Belize Survivor, part 22

Max came to Alexis’ bedside on the screen-in side porch about an hour after sunset. In the darkness, they kissed and held each other gently, knowing that the night was long and their lovemaking could be unhurried. Slowly he undressed her; his excitement grew as he stroked the firm smooth curves of her body. She ran her hands over his hairless muscled chest and felt her own fire start to burn. A moan escaped her lips as he penetrated her for the first time.

They made love for hours that night. Around two o’clock am, utterly exhausted, they took a brief respite, but awoke an hour later with renewed strength and passion. By first light, destiny had brought their lives together.

The next few weeks passed like a dream. Everyone on the farm knew that something had happened between Max and Alexis. Martin and Annie were happy for their sakes, although Greg had become uncharacteristically sullen, and no one was surprised that he left suddenly for an impromptu visit to San Francisco. Early on, Annie had kindly suggested that Max and Alexis use one of the still-unoccupied furnished bedrooms of the sprawling farmhouse, and she quietly hoped they would both stay on as communal members.

In early February, Alexis lay with Max, watching the early morning shadows on the wall. Cradled in his arms, her head on his chest, she could hear his heart beating. She thrilled to the very sound of it.

"Max?" Alexis said quietly. "Are you awake?"

He brushed her hair aside, and stroked her cheek. “Yeah, what is it?"

"Sorry if this sounds like a pick-up line – but what sign are you?"

"Leo, the lion,” he replied. “From the jungle."

"What was it like there in Africa? You started to tell me before. I've always had a fascination for it."

"My father had a sugar plantation near Zululand," Max replied. "When I was little, he grew wattle trees as a cash crop and later, sugar cane. Being born and raised on a farm, I guess I've always loved the land and the soil. I even built my own thatched house on the edge of an enormous gorge on the farm. Someday I'd love to find another place like that – my own little corner of the world."

"So you're a lion from the jungles of Africa, and your name is Augustus, the name of a king. It all fits.” Alexis sat up playfully. “I'm a Gemini, sign of the twins.” Symbolically, she gave him a brilliant smile, and then an intentional scowl, followed by another smile to drive the point home. “But fair warning. With me, you get more than the twins – you get a whole harem."

"Sounds great,” Max said, as he reached for her. “I'll never be bored."

Settling back into his arms, she paused before speaking again. "I'm going back to Berkeley today."

"Why do you want to do that?” he cried out. “Don't you want to stay here with me for a while longer? Don't you feel the same way I do?"

"What I feel for you …I can’t put a name on it." Alexis looked at him, and then looked away. She could see the hurt on his face. “I don't know exactly. Right now my life is still there in Berkeley, not here. Even though I don't really have a job there at the moment, my ties are there. My little place and the people I’ve met here in California. Bonny Doon was only meant to be a vacation, not a permanent move."

"I think I love you." Max hadn’t meant to say it so soon. His hazel-green eyes shone liquid and warm.

Alexis looked up at him through her long thick lashes. "Tell me that in Zulu."

"Ngi atanda wena."

"That’s a beautiful language. But how can you know? How can I know? We've only spent a few weeks together."

"My sign is Leo, Alexis. Lions mate for life and I think I may have found you.” Max sighed, and hesitated before he spoke again. “Also, I happen to believe that anybody can live with anybody and make it work, so long as the other person feels the same way; so long as they both strive for that common goal."

"It's strange that you should say that. I've often thought the same thing."

"Well, if you feel it and I feel it, doesn't that tell you we should be together?"

"Maybe. But if we're meant to be together, we'll best find out by being apart."

Teenager, Her Mother Fatally Shot in Largo

A mother and daughter were shot to death early yesterday in their home in a quiet Largo neighborhood, probably by someone who knew them, Prince George's County police said.

Acting Chief Roberto Hylton said there was no indication of forced entry into the two-story, colonial-style home in the 10800 block of Southall Drive. There was also no indication that anything was stolen, he said.

"This is an isolated incident," Hylton said. "This is not a serial killer."...

Father's Groups Funding in the USA

Dear Reader,

Here in the great U.S., male/father supremacy groups are funded, with our tax dollars, by our U.S. government, courtesy of the Department of Health and Human Services. Grants are issued, in the name of Fatherhood Initiatives, which are often tied to local child support authorities. This is how child support is "eliminated" and also how fathers discover that they want equal custody...LOL.

Canada Strips Kids From Mom...

...based on bullshit.

From Battered Moms Lose Children to Abusers:

In another appalling case based on the never accepted, scientifically discredited theories of Pro-Pedophilia Dr. Richard Gardner, three children are being psychologically tortured, kidnapped, and deprived of their mother in another fraudulent custody change involving the fictitious parental alienation syndrome.

The father sounds like a difficult, demanding, controlling person who is subjecting these children to torture. One can only hope that the children will escape from their captors and alert the media. Absolute total torturous control has been placed on these children, and it is believed that they are likely being sent to a facility similar to the PAS facility, The Rachel Foundation which has already been the subject of a lawsuit for unlawful imprisonment and the psychological torture of children. That facility employs "therapists" of dubious character who have been the subject of Psychology Board complaints, and other legal complaints. Since they specialize in "treating" a non-accepted hypothetical syndrome, one wonders what sick minds came up with the propaganda for allowing "programming" of children against their will to obey the demands of the parent who spends the most money in court and has the most unethical expert "whores of the courts" doing their bidding. The court ruling named numerous so-called doctors, all of whom should be very closely watched as anyone pushing parental alienation theories is showing a scientific bias to using the same theory over and over, and in the case of PAS, they are using a fictitious theory that has been rejected by all ethical scientific groups as being invalid and full of flaws.

Here is the story from a Canadian paper - they seem to exalt fatherhood and malign motherhood and dismiss any complaints against this father (as there are experts who will testify against moms all over the place - just Google the terms and see how many hits there are for father's rights, parental alienation, and similar terms. There are no people advertising to validate claims of abuse, so anyone claiming abuse anymore appears to be subjected to horrible treatment - re-victimizing the victims.):
Canadian mother loses custody for alienating kids from father
by Scott Gilbreath ~ January 25th, 2009

A Toronto man and woman had three daughters during a relationship that lasted about five years. After they separated (and later divorced), the children remained in the custody of the mother, while the father was supposed to have regular access and time alone with them.

Ten years later, Justice Faye McWatt has ordered the girls, now aged 9 to 14, given to the father’s sole custody because of the mother’s relentless campaign to alienate them from him. Despite repeated warnings, she refused to change her behaviour, leading to this decision.
The mother’s “consistent and overwhelming” campaign to brainwash the children into thinking their father was a bad person was nothing short of emotional abuse, Justice Faye McWatt of the Superior Court of Justice wrote in her decision.

The three girls, ages 9 to 14, were brought to a downtown courthouse last Friday and turned over to their father, a vascular surgeon identified only as A.L.

Their mother, a chiropodist identified as K.D., was ordered to stay away from the building during the transfer and to have her daughters’ clothing and possessions sent to their father’s house.

McWattstipulated that K.D. is to have no access to the children except in conjunction with counselling, including a special intensive therapy program for children affected by “parental alienation syndrome.” The mother must bear the costs.
K.D. ignored several court orders, shut the door in A.L.’s face when he came to collect the children, and refused to answer the phone when he called to say good night. She would send police to his home when he had a child for an overnight visit. Ultimately, she cut off all contact between A.L. and his children.

Justice McWatt heard that, as long as eight years ago, an expert had predicted that the girls would become alienated from their father unless the mother stopped brainwashing them.
Kudos to the judge for ordering this bold, if belated, change in custody. One hopes that the relationship between the daughters and their father will be restored.

The full text of the court ruling is posted here. The campaign to alienate the children from A.L. began while they were still married. It seems clear to me that K.D.’s child-rearing behaviour was, shall we say, inappropriate from the get-go.

And the decision, written to make the facts fit the theory - never mind that the theory is not accepted by any ethical scientific organization, it is not in the DSM and is the sick philosophy of Pro-Pedophilia Dr. Richard Gardner.

Click on the link below to read this bogus decision that one can only hope will be overturned on appeal for being based on a fictitious syndrome.

A.G.L. v. K.B.D., 2009 CanLII 943 (ON S.C.)

Justice Faye McWatt , the father's lawyers, Harold Niman / Donna Wowk, the child's lawyer, Elizabeth McCarty, and Dr. Barbara Fidler, all are being listed in the Hall of Shame. These other people named in the ruling are all apparently engaging in some cross referral PAS network: Dr. Randy Rand and Dr. Yvonne Parnell, who apparently have something against being a favored parent, unless of course the favored parent is the father - in that case it would go right along with the "dad as king" theory that appears to be so prevalent among the fatherhood exaltors.

When reading the opinion, this list of behaviors of the person who the child does not want to associate is listed. Please note the backward thinking on this one. This is a list of ABUSIVE behaviors -- at the very least they would be indicators of bad parenting. This theory glorifies and excuses and blames the protective parent. There is not enough being done to stop this Orwellian nightmare.

List of bad/abusive parenting traits, yet mother and child are still blamed and punished. There needs to be outrage over this decision. Unfortunately, with women traditionally being passive, there will be less people condemning while the fatherhood fanatics will be applauding this subjugation of the children to the father's will and reveling in the punishment of the mother.

Parental Behaviours that Make Rejection or Alienation More Likely:

➢ Harsh, rigid and punitive parenting style

➢ Outrage at child’s challenge to his/her authority

➢ Passivity or withdrawal in face of conflict

➢ Immature, self-centred in relation to child

➢ Loses temper, angry, demanding, intimidating character traits, but not to level of abuse

➢ Counter-rejecting behaviour

➢ Lacks empathic connection to child

➢ Inept and unempathic pursuit of child, pushes calls and letters, unannounced or embarrassing visits

➢ Challenges child’s beliefs and/or attitudes and tries to convince them otherwise

➢ Dismissive of child’s feelings and negative attitudes

➢ Induces guilt

➢ May use force to reassert parental position

➢ Vents rage, blames alienating parent for brainwashing child and takes no responsibility

Excerpt from the ruling:
The Applicant may, in his discretion, utilize the services of Dr. Randy Rand including participation in the Family Workshop for Alienated Children program created by Dr. Randy Rand (“Family Workshop”). For these purposes, the Applicant may transfer the children outside of Canada for treatment and may retain the services of Bill Lane, or any other transport agents, to assist in the transport of the children to the location at which the Family Workshop will be conducted. He is to advise the Respondent of the dates the children will be attending the Family Workshop, but does not have to advise her of the location.
6. I Don't Want Child Support

Dear Reader,

I don't want the shit (child support) either. In fact, many of us mothers, at this point, would gladly retract the child support in exchange for the ability to raise our children without interference from our abusers. Legal auction.

On the other hand, child support is for the child. It really isn't even yours and giving it up could be considered a disservice to the child. Let's speculate that you are saying that you don't even need it--could not your child's life be enhanced, in some way, by the extra dollars?

But if you are living in poverty, as many single mothers are for various reasons, and you enlist the support of your local government by applying for TANF or Medicaid, the Child Support Division will GET YOU (LMAO) so that they can collect from the absent parent. The government got tired of supporting single mothers so they figured out (many years ago) that they should get reimbursed by the absent parent....

which was when the absent parent decided "he" wanted shared/50-50/equal parenting/custody (in recent years).

One day, I plan on taking this child support money and wiping our asses with it, but my better half tells me I will take in and store it away, and give it to my child upon college.

My advice to you, if you can do without, live in abject poverty and fuck child support. In fact, write FATHER UNKNOWN on the birth certificate. You may feel like you're losing, and it isn't right, but everyone will win.

Consider your situation, I'm writing this half jokingly, but 100% seriously.

What Do I Tell Them?

I have been relatively silent on this blog recently...I get like that some times. When you're traveling through a healing journey, sometimes, you just get tired of addressing the issues...almost as if talking about it is re-living it.

I am watchful of all the violence in the media--the murders of women and children and custody disputes and divorces. It's a regular occurrence. I feel my inner rage growing inside.

I communicate with mothers on a regular basis...mothers who have been fucked by or are getting fucked by the family court system in conjunctions with their abusers. I don't know what to say to them anymore.

What do I do when they cry?

What do I do when they don't "get it"?

What do I tell them?

Do I tell them everything's going to work out?...because shit already isn't working out--that's why we are communicating. Do I tell them things will get better for them? I have no knowledge of the end. No foresight. Each case is different. But the patterns I have been watching are all the same. We are all getting fucked. I want them to run...

And now the system is coming down on those who are so bold enough to stand up for us...with us.

Who will be left except for the devil roaming the earth, himself?

If ever there were a God, I cannot fathom that He or She would envision this.

I have more than a handful of posts in draft mode...my thoughts are stuck. I know what I want to say...but what I need to say, I'm not able to do in writing. I tried podcasting it out but in that I am a perfectionist, it was never just right.

I have some shit to get off my chest about Obama. I'm waiting for him to either be my best friend, or my enemy. As it stands, he teetering right in between. I feel conflicted about the shit that I have to say, because of the whole issue with saying things in mixed company...and racism...but I gotta say it...I just don't know if anyone will understand it as most of the people going through this family court bullshit seem to be White...Black people don't have time for this kind of bullshit. We're still trying to get a leg up!?

So, how do I say it?

I have been online now for 6 months. Woohoo. No blog anniversary post. I'm not in the mood and I haven't been. People keep landing on my blog looking for CHILD SEX, YEMEN CHILD SEX, YEMEN SEX, JAMES RANDI PORN....someone please tell me what the fuck this is about because there is no porn up in this muthafucker!

Until my thoughts are further released, I'm going to start taking some of the search queries and responding to them as posts. Let's go for a ride...

Belize Survivor, part 21

"Somebody needs to take a run into the health food store in Santa Cruz," said Martin. “Do I have any takers?” It was just after breakfast and Greg, Annie, Max, and Alexis were all helping to clear the table.

“ I’ll go,” Max volunteered, raising his hand. "Alexis, would you like to go with me?"

"Sure," she replied.

The rains from the previous night had scattered and the day was again warm, breezy, and sunny. Grabbing a hand-woven shopping bag, they got the list from Annie, and walked together down the gray weathered steps of the farmhouse to where the vehicles were parked. The sky was brilliant blue; the temperature, perfect.

"My car or yours?" Max asked. "Do you have a preference?"

"Since you asked, let’s use mine. Your car smells like a goat,” she said, truthfully. Max smiled good-naturedly and shook his head. He got in on the passenger’s side of the VW and rolled down the window to let in the fresh air. "Hey, it’s true. What can I say? I milk the goats around here.” Max was quite aware that his car was a little over-whelming in natural scent. Out of necessity, he’d transported a few of the Bonny Doon goats in the back-seat on more than one occasion.

“Just teasing,” Alexis said, as she started the car and headed toward the highway.

“It’s part of your charm. So tell me a little bit more about you.”

“Like what?”

“Let’s start with what's your last name?"

"Lord.” He paused, “OK, I might as well tell you the rest; my full name is Maximilian Augustus Lord."

"You've got to be kidding!” Alexis started to laugh, and then caught herself. He was actually serious. “I'm sorry. It's just that I've met so many California people who name their kids Dewdrop and Moonbeam and stuff. Is that your real name?"

"I got the Augustus from an uncle.” He smiled, amused. “The rest, I have no excuse for."

"I thought your real name was probably Bob or something, but somehow I think Maximilian suits you. I knew a Chicano named Jesus."

"Just imagine if he was my brother," Max laughed. "He would have been Jesus Lord."

The comment set the tone for fun, and by the time they reached the health food store the two of them were giggling like children. From the tofu burgers to the organic Chinese bok choy, everything seemed funny.

“Bok, bok,” Alexis mimicked a chicken. “What the bok is a buckwheat groat?” she clucked. “Bok, bok. Bok CHOY!”
Max was laughing so hard, he could hardly stand upright. Then suddenly he grabbed Alexis impulsively and kissed her hard, right there in the store. It was only a fleeting moment, but it was filled with passion and in the pit of her stomach, she felt the unmistakable ache of desire.

Later that day, Max and Alexis left Bonny Doon for a second excursion, opting to take a walk in the Brussels sprout fields, skirting the edges of the rocky outcroppings where the cliffs plummeted hundreds of feet to the crashing waves below. The sky seemed enormous, still brilliantly blue, although now, giant puffy cumulus clouds billowed across the sun, casting immense undulating shadows across the flats. This time Max kissed her deeply. In return, she held him tightly, loving the feel and the touch of his caress. She stroked his beautiful thick dark hair and felt the hard muscles in his back and shoulders. From that moment on, neither of them could wait for the coming night and the promise of passion it held.

Dear Mothers,

Take your child[ren] and get the hell out of dodge. They are going to paint you as crazy. You are not, but most people WILL be against you. Their best weapon is to say that you are psycho and that everything you are doing is "wrong." The battle is to prove your sanity while explaining why you are behaving in this manner. But who believes what a crazy person is saying?

This is not a safe place here in the U.S. where men believe they have rights over you, your body, and children produced within.

Friday

Belize Survivor, part 20

That evening, dinner was a simple meal, served on a trestle table on the screened-in side porch that acted as a sitting room and a spare bedroom as well. There was a sort of meatless meatloaf made of soybeans, steamed sweet potatoes, homegrown zucchini, fresh green alfalfa sprouts, and Annie's homemade bread. The conversation was lively all through dinner. Then Martin picked up his guitar and strummed a few notes as a soft winter rain began to fall outside.

"Anybody in the mood to take a little ride? Who wants to go over to Gino and Gracie’s and play some music?" he asked.

"Sounds good to me," said Max. "They’re the ones with the drums, right?"

"Yep," Martin answered. "They've got a couple of guitars, some conga drums, and a banjo." He turned to Alexis. "I understand we have a flute player in our midst, right?"

"I'm not very good,” Alexis admitted, “but I'd love to jam a little."

A few minutes later they piled into Greg’s van and headed down the road in the general direction of Santa Cruz. Martin and Annie sat up front, with Greg and Max in the back with Alexis. As they drove toward town, she realized that she felt a strong physical attraction to both men.

Although Alexis considered herself to be a very passionate person, she wasn’t “easy” – at least not within the counter-culture context. She wasn't like Marcy, who would have sex with just about any man, or woman for that matter; enjoying one-night-stands and sexual encounters with no significant rapport. For Alexis, there needed to be a connection of spirit, if not long-term commitment. Few had actually entered her heart-of-hearts and won a place there for life. Long ago, it seemed, there had been Paul. Indian Ron too, but in a different way.

“So how long have you played flute, Alexis?" asked Greg.
"Not long. I've only been playing seriously for about three months now, selling these ceramic flutes on Telegraph Avenue. How about you, do you play anything?"

"No. I'm the storyteller and comic in the crowd," said Greg. "Former class clown. You know the type. But I do like to—"

"I play hand drums," Max interrupted, not realizing his momentary rudeness.

"Hand drums?" asked Alexis.

"I don't play a full drum kit with sticks. I play congas, djembes, or doumbeks."

"Where are you from, Max? I can't place your accent. Annie said Canada, but you don't sound Canadian."
"I spent time recently in Canada, but I'm originally from South Africa. I learned to play congas in the Zulu kraals on my father's sugar farm back in Natal."

"I'd like to hear about it sometime," said Alexis, diplomatically. "Sorry, Greg. What were you saying?"

"It's okay, nothing important," Greg said politely, but his smile had faded.

The evening turned out to be great fun. As the rain drizzled softly outside, the pot-bellied stove kept the cabin in the redwoods cozy and warm. Gracie danced, while Gino and Martin played guitars. Max kept a steady but creative rhythm on the congas while Alexis took the lead on flute. Between songs, Greg kept everyone in stitches with jokes and funny stories.

"Let me try to play that drum, Max," said Alexis. She took the conga from him and beat out a few notes on the rim. "Ow, that hurts my fingers. How can you play these things?"

"You have to have hands like a monkey's arse to play congas," he said earnestly.
She laughed as she mimicked his British accent. "Now how would I know what a monkey's arse is like?"

"Well, you see, monkeys sit on rocks most of the day, picking nits off each other and eating them—"

"Eewww, gross," shouted Gracie from across the room. "Just tell the story."

"Anyway, they get these two round hard corns on their butts. When you've got hard horny calluses on your hands, like a monkey's arse, then you can play hand drums with the best of them. By that, I mean the Zulus."

"What's this about ‘horny’ over there?" Greg teased, as he stoked the fire. "Let's keep it clean."

That night Alexis was pensive as she bedded down alone on the side porch. She could have chosen to sleep in closer proximity to Greg or Max, but she didn't feel like it. At least, not yet. Funny, how it was always the woman's ultimate choice. Men did the chasing and women did the choosing. Greg was sweet, funny, and American; Max was different, foreign, and mysterious.

The number of fatal stabbings in England and Wales rose from 269 to 270 last year, the highest total for at least 30 years, the Home Office said yesterday.

But statisticians added that this was a similar level to that seen in four out of the last six years and pointed out that fatal shootings had fallen from 59 to 53 over the same period.

The supplementary volume of Home Office crime figures published yesterday, which cover homicides, gun crime and intimate violence for the year to April 2008, also shows that the overall murder rate in England and Wales rose by 2% from 758 in 2006-07 to 773 in 2007-08...

Broward GAL Engaged in PAS Racket

Of all the most scrupulous custody crap that I've heard in Florida, Broward County must be leading because I keep hearing case after case. A serious outside investigation needs to be done. Many persons who have immunity within the legal system need to be behind bars.

Vicki Plant has been in the Broward Court system for about 20 years, manipulating custody cases by suppressing real evidence and manufacturing fraudulent rhetoric. This same scam can be used in any case where there is MONEY.

In this next example, the child is now 20 years old and more than able to speak out about the torture inflicted on him by Vicki Plant and unethical psychologist, Sherri Bourg-Carter. Vicki Plant sought to give custody to the father (a very wealthy and not so moral person). The child said that he wanted to live with his mom, and visit his dad. Despite the teenage child being able to fully express himself, when Vicki would go to court, she would lie and claim that the child said he wanted to live with his dad.

Vicki had Sherri Bourg-Carter repeatedly talk to this child. Both Vicki Plant and Sherri Bourg-Carter would then go into court and change around what was said and claim the fictitious psychological syndrome of parental alienation. Numerous times the child was forced to talk to these unethical people. This is so obviously a set up to the children who are subjected to this treatment. They are quite aware that after they speak to these people, and they tell them how they feel, or about specific incidences, then the exact opposite of what they want is inflicted on them, it is soon quite apparent that these people are up to no good. This child was quite aware of his father's lack of ethics and it was quite apparent that these two women were colluding with the wealthy father.

This unethical "treatment" went on for years. Vicki was then attempting to force the child to relocate to another state. She forced the child to fly with her on a plane to visit the father. Vicki Plant even had dinner with the father and child in another state at the father's expense. During this dinner, Vicki Plant claimed that the child's mother had called her, and said that it was alright for the child to live with the father in another state. Fortunately, this child was smart and stood up and said that his mother would never say such a thing. Then he proceeded to call the mother to ask if this was true, and, of course, it was not true. Vicki then proceeded to torment this child by repeatedly telling him that he would have to live with his father. The child cried on the plane and this was witnessed, but the witnesses were suppressed from testifying in this fraudulent setup.

Plant continued her quest to force this child to live with his father against his will. She repeatedly forced him to speak with the unethical psychologist, Sherri Bourg-Carter, the two of them would collude and testify against the mother to the child's detriment. Plant tormented this boy so much that he was distraught. Plant then tricked him asking him if he wanted it to end. The child desperate for relief, of course, wanted this seemingly endless torture to stop. Plant told him that he just had to sign a piece of paper, but didn't tell him what it said. She tricked the child into signing a paper that said he wanted to live with his father. Then a hearing was scheduled and it was setup for Plant to take the child. Plant took the child from school and held him in a room at the courthouse against his will, terrorizing him. Then the child was brought in front of the judge. Fortunately, this child was able to speak for himself, and was actually listened to. The judge asked if he wanted to live with his father, and the child said that no he didn't want to. Plant then tried to claim her usual scam claiming that the child was "brainwashed". Fortunately for that child the judge didn't buy it and said, "Poor Vicki, Poor, Poor Vicki [Child] won't join your crusade"

Thank goodness that the child in that story was a teenager and was able to speak for himself. Other children, have not been as fortunate and there have been instances in Vicki Plant's cases were there has been extreme mistreatment of the children resulting in a suicide attempt and other self harm by more than one child, and in more than one case.

This guardian ad litem profiteers off of cases to the detriment of children. She repeatedly uses psychologists to commit fraud, to cover up evidence of abuse, and to manipulate the outcomes of cases. An investigation should be done on cases where she is involved. There is likely a very high percentage of cases where the wealthiest party prevails with Vicki Plant manipulating the case upon her involvement.

Adulterous minister murdered BBC make-up artist wife

David Chenery-Wickens, 51, was described as a "sexual predator" who had the "clearest motive and the obvious opportunity" to kill his 48-year-old wife Diane, an award-winning artist who had worked on programmes including Dead Ringers, The League Of Gentlemen and Casualty.

Opening the case at his trial for her murder, prosecutor Philip Katz QC said Mrs Chenery-Wickens had discovered her husband was cheating on her and phoning adult men-only chatlines.

Although qualified as a spiritualist minister, he rarely worked, had mounting debts and relied financially on his wife, Mr Katz said. He had also untruthfully told friends that he and his wife were going through a divorce and that their home was on the market, he alleged...

Monday

Belize Survivor, part 19

"Hey Mark, how are you doing? How was your holiday?"

"Great," he replied. "I spent Christmas with my people in the redwoods. I just got back a few days ago. Regular sessions don't start until Wednesday, so that gives me a couple days to get organized. I'm off to a lecture right now. Stephen Gaskin's Monday Night Class. Ever hear of him?"

"Yeah, I think so. Isn't he the guy that preaches communal living?"

"Right. He's got a big following now. Stephen's really into a new philosophy. Eventually he wants to take a caravan of busses across the country to spread the word."

"What else are you studying this semester?"

"I've decided to take a course at Ali Akbar School of Music studying Indian flute. Maybe you're rubbing off on me." He grinned.

"So how was Santa Cruz?" she asked.

"Incredible. Every morning I watched the sunrise over the redwoods, worked in the garden, took steam baths in the geodesic dome, and tended the goats. When are you going to take my advice and go there?"

"To tell you the truth, I was considering just that. Telegraph Avenue is pretty dead. No buyers, no vendors. Do you really think it would be okay to just show up?"

"Sure, they're good folks. Just help out around the place and chip in on groceries and chores. They'd love to have you, I'm sure."

* * * *
Seven miles north of Santa Cruz on the upper end of Monterey Bay, the mountains ran close to the ocean, separated only by a narrow plateau. On the western side of Highway One were broad fields of Brussels sprouts, hardy plants that thrived in the harsh sun and wind above the cliffs where the salt spray wafted up from the sea. On the eastern side, the hills rose from the flats, and redwoods stood in grandeur as they had for thousands of years.

Alexis made a sharp left at the sign and followed the long dirt driveway edging the redwood forest. Pulling up to the gate, she saw the white two-story farmhouse, the barn, and a large acreage all surrounded by a white picket fence, just as Mark had described it.

"Hi," she called. "Is anybody here?"

"C'mon in," came the reply from the house. A young woman came to the door and beckoned, her hands dusty with flour.

"Hi, I'm Annie," she said. "Forgive me for not coming out; I was trying to get this bread kneaded and set to rise before the men get back."

"My name's Alexis. I'm Mark's friend from Berkeley."

"He told us about you. Welcome to Bonny Doon. Come in and have a seat."

Alexis mounted the creaky steps and took the proffered chair in the kitchen as Annie kneaded the dough. The faded orange curtains fluttered gaily in the window. The house felt comfortable; the vibes warm and friendly.

“It's beautiful here,” she said. “Mark says this is actually a working commune, right?

"Well, most of the time anyway,” Annie replied. “Some folks are permanent; some are short term. As long as people are helpful and contributing, it works out for everybody. If they're lazy and just taking advantage of a good thing, they are asked to leave."

"How many people are here right now?"

"Only four. But some are still visiting relatives because of the holidays. There's me and my old man, Martin. There's Greg, and a guy from Canada named Max. There are two other couples who live here permanently, plus a single guy and a lesbian couple; eleven all together. Even though the holidays are over, they probably won’t be back for a month."

When the kneading was done, Annie greased a bowl, and flipped the dough twice. As she covered the smooth rounded loaf with a clean cloth and put it on the back of the stove to rise, they heard the sound of a truck pulling in through the gate.

"Is that the men coming back?’ she asked. “Perfect. I got that bread done just in time. Want to give us a hand? The guys are bringing back a load of firewood." Alexis followed her outside as the truck pulled in.

"Martin, Greg, Max, this is Alexis, one of Mark's friends from Berkeley. Alexis, meet the guys."

Martin was skinny and tall with a scraggly beard and thin brown hair. Greg had a ruddy complexion, strawberry blond hair, and wore a red bandanna around his neck. He was attractive and had a mischievous twinkle in his eye. Max had dark straight hair that fell to his shoulders and hazel eyes deeply set in a heart-shaped face. His nose was straight and angular, shaded by heavy brows. The chin was too short but his lips were bowed, full, and sensuous. It was an arresting face, not exactly handsome, but certainly distinctive.

Belize Survivor, part 18

"Alexis?" Danny whispered. "Are you awake?" He was leaning over the bed shaking her shoulder gently.

"What time is it?" she asked, groggily.

"It's three-fifteen. Do you still want to go to the Flower Market with me this morning? If you do, I'm leaving in about ten minutes."

Danny Sutherland had lived with Hank Berman for four years in an old wooden house on the fringes of the ghetto. Together they owned a floral business in the downtown area of Oakland. Unlike other flower shops with sterile ambivalent racks or rows of plants laid out in supermarket fashion, when a visitor stepped through the door of Hank and Danny’s flower shop, they stepped into a virtual rain forest, a sweet-smelling jungle, complete with small waterfalls in each corner. Plants of all shapes and sizes nestled together from floor to ceiling; there was no telling where one began and the other left off. Three times a week Danny got up early and drove to the enormous Flower Market in San Francisco where he did his wholesale buying. On several occasions he had invited Alexis to go along, and for the first time, she had decided to accept the offer. It was still pitch-black as they headed west across the Bay Bridge toward the lights of San Francisco.

"Hank and I will be taking another trip to Mexico soon,” said Danny. “We’re going to close the shop, but wondered if you would mind taking care of the plants for a few days?"

"Of course not; I’d be glad to. What are you going to do in Mexico?"

"Walk through the jungles and look at the plants, of course." He smiled.

"Jungles? I thought Mexico was all deserts. You know – cactus, striped blankets, and sombreros."

"That's true of the northern areas. But in the mountains to the west and south there are tropical rainforests with wall-to-wall plants. That's where they used to make all the old Tarzan movies."

"I loved Tarzan movies!” she exclaimed. “But I thought they were filmed in Africa."

"Nah, that's what they wanted you to think,” David replied. “Besides, most of Africa doesn't even have jungle. The big cats they used in those movies weren’t even leopards; they were jaguars. And again, jaguars are from Mexico, not Africa. But the plants…" he said dreamy-eyed. "Just imagine, philodendrons with leaves big enough for a full-grown person to hide behind, dangling from sixty foot vines. Ficus lyrata, eighteen feet tall with trunks that are four inches thick.

And orchids. In the high canopy of the rainforest, the vines crisscross to make natural baskets that fill with leaves and animal droppings, the perfect growing medium for millions of beautiful orchids. To me, Mexico is paradise on earth."

By then Alexis had lost her point of reference in the maze of streets, but somewhere near the Embarcadero, Danny made two left turns and parked. Together they walked into the largest warehouse she had ever seen. Filled with every type of flower and houseplant imaginable, it was there that her love of tropical flora was born.

A few days later, Alexis obtained a solicitor's permit and began to sell the ceramic flutes on Telegraph Avenue amidst the purveyors of colorful tied-dyed T-shirts, ceramic wind chimes, leather belts, cherry-wood pipes, and African trade beads. Fellow vendors turned into friends, and the sidewalks near Sather Gate became Alexis’ second home.

In December, the weather turned unseasonably cold. The Bay, which rarely saw temperatures below fifty, felt the bitter chill of near-freezing temperatures. But business was as brisk as the weather, and Alexis found herself making trip after trip to the factory in Crockett. She played and sold the ceramic flutes all day long, becoming more proficient as the weeks passed.

"Tell you what," customers would dare her, "I've never been able to get a single note out of any flute. If you can help me do that, I'll buy one."

"It's all in the embouchure, the way you position your lips and blow across the hole," she told them, loving the challenge. "The air splits, half goes down the hole, half goes over the top. If you can blow across a bottle, you can get a note out of a flute." Selling came easily to Alexis. With Christmas coming, she did well, and in spite of her professed anti-capitalism, she managed to clear almost two thousand dollars in a little less than two months.

However, everything changed after the first of the New Year. Hank and Danny decided to move to a nicer house in the hills, and they told Alexis she’d have to find another place. Wishing them luck, she promised to stay in touch. Within a few days she found a little garage in Berkeley to rent for cheap, fixed it up as a studio apartment, and called Mark to tell him the news.

Sentence upheld for man in murder, decapitation

A former racing mechanic convicted of strangling his estranged wife and decapitating her to make her body hard to identify must serve the 60 years to which he was sentenced, the Indiana Court of Appeals ruled Wednesday.

Michael G. Albrecht had appealed after a Marion Superior Court judge refused to reduce his sentence or grant him a new trial in the 1992 murder of 31-year-old Cynthia L. Albrecht. Both Albrechts had been employed by different owners in the now-defunct Championship Auto Racing Teams.

She disappeared Oct. 25, 1992, after returning from a race in California shortly before the couple's divorce was to be finalized. Her headless body was found about three weeks later in northern Indiana's Newton County and was identified by surgical scars and fingerprints...

Belize Survivor, part 17

Although San Francisco still symbolized the very heart of the hippie counterculture, the focus had shifted east to the University of Berkeley. Running south from Sather Gate was the famous Telegraph Avenue, where all the contrasting charisma of the times seemed to line its sidewalks. On the shady side of the street were the pessimists, the cynics, and existentialists. These were children of the night, the jilted, and the lovelorn. Many wore the ravaged faces of hard drug abuse. On the sunny side were the optimists, the spirituals, the hopefuls, those who made direct eye contact, believed in love and peace, and trusted their fellow man. They were the writers, the poets, the dreamers, and philosophers; the sweet scent of marijuana lingered in their clothes.

Street vendors lined the sunny sidewalk while musicians, corner poets and orators, bubble-blowers, and Frisbee throwers created an air of festivity. Handcrafted wares were strewn across brightly colored blankets and sold to passers-by. Hari Krishnas paraded in the street, wrapped in orange mantles, shaking their tambourines, and chanting the praises of Rama. Everybody, it seemed, was an extremist of some type: vegetarian, fruitarian, macrobiotic. There were those who ate only sprouted wheat grass or engaged in prolonged fasting until they barely looked human and resembled walking skeletons. Some had taken a vow of silence and had not uttered a single word for years; others mumbled incoherently, oblivious to everything around them. New-born babies were named Rainbow, Cloud, Tree, or Star. It was the post-Haight-Ashbury era in California – the dawning of the Age of Aquarius.

Mark Donovan became Alexis’ first real friend in the city. A student at the university, they had met while playing Frisbee on the campus grounds and struck up a conversation. A few days later when he invited her back to his uniquely decorated crystal-laden apartment, Alexis found out that Mark was an accomplished guitarist. He was also fascinated with pyramids and prismatic power.

"I've been doing research for a term paper," he said, sitting down at his desk. The low evening sunlight shone through the dozens of hanging crystals in the window, creating a room full of rainbows. He pointed behind him. "See that book In Search of Ancient Mysteries? It claims that a razor blade will stay sharp inside a pyramid no matter how often it's used."

Alexis examined an Indian print hanging on the wall above the bookshelf. Below it was a brass incense burner and a handmade clay pot with an arrangement of dried flowers and eagle feathers.

"Who's this Hindu god? And why is his skin blue?"

"That's Shiva. See the cobra around his neck? The blue skin symbolizes that he survived the effects of the venom; it also represents the universality of oceans and water."

"You're really into this stuff. You don't worship them, do you?"

"No," Mark laughed. "But I have respect for all religions and their teachers: Gandhi, Jesus, Buddha, and Confucius. They all had good things to offer. In fact, it seems that most religions say much the same thing: you should love other people, respect yourself, and try to be the best person you can be."

"That's what I believe too." Alexis relaxed into a yellow bean-bag chair in the corner and stretched out comfortably. The rainbows still played their colors on the wall, but the sun was getting lower.

"On a more mundane level, have you found a way to make money yet?" Mark asked.

"Actually, I think I'm on to an excellent prospect. The other day, I hooked up with a couple of craftsmen who make ceramic flutes. They're looking for someone to be their street vendor on Telegraph.”

"What do the flutes look like? Just conversation pieces, or real instruments?"

"Oh, they're real instruments. Accurate too,” Alexis told him. “I checked out their factory in Crockett and saw the whole operation. These guys have spent two years developing the mold. They’re made out of California white clay; the holes are cut with brass tubing. It's all done with great precision: the size and shape of the holes, the individual bevels, and the distance apart. All the measurements are absolutely critical because the flute shrinks in the kiln. Then they glaze them with different color schemes. They really look and sound exceptional."

"Do you play?"

"I used to play a little in high school and probably would have majored in music if I hadn't dropped out of college. But I have a good ear and can pick up just about any instrument, so I figure I'll give selling a shot. I'm supposed to pick up my first crate tomorrow and I'll see how it goes."

How about a place to live?” Mark inquired. “Did you find one?"

"Sure did. I found a place in Oakland with those two gay guys I told you about, Hank and Danny. All I need is about seventy-five bucks and I can move in."

"That's great. It sounds like things are coming together."

"I hope so. Listen, Mark, I'm going to go up to Tilden Park to watch the sunset. Kind of a Key West habit I picked up. Wanna go?"

"I can't. Thanks anyway," he said, giving her a hug. "But let me know how the flute thing goes. I'll be off to Santa Cruz for the weekend; I’m going to visit my buddies in the redwoods.” Mark sighed, then yawned and stretched. “Yep. Bonny Doon. No place like it on Earth. You should go there sometime. Good people there, so peaceful and beautiful."

"Sounds great. I'll keep it in mind. See ya later."
Leaving his apartment, Alexis started the drive up the winding road to the hills above Berkeley. Reaching the summit, she parked the car and wandered among the new fallen leaves. Autumn had that pungent scent, enhanced by the aroma of the eucalyptus trees. Picking up a handful of the aromatic cone-shaped seeds, she sniffed them like fine perfume and put them in her pocket. She rolled a thin joint, lit it, and sat back against a tree to savor the sights.

With the sun poised over the Golden Gate Bridge, the panoramic view spread out before her while the hand of God began painting bold splashes on the backdrop of the muted sky. Below lay the San Francisco Bay in its entirety – Berkeley beneath, Oakland to the left, and looking far across the water she could see as far south as Palo Alto, and as far north as San Rafael. As Alexis watched day change into night, the steady stream of east-west traffic became a great moving snake of headlights slithering across the Bay Bridge to the twinkling City of San Francisco. Alcatraz sulked in lonely solitude in the encroaching darkness while Angel Island and Mount Tamalpais rose like specters from the mists. Lost in thought, Alexis stayed on the hillside of Tilden Park until the afterglow had faded completely from the sky. There was peace in her heart. Life was unfolding, and it was very good.
